Hero

“Everyone is necessarily the hero of his own life story.” - John Barth

As a kid, almost everyone plays pretend. Whether you’re a valiant knight venturing across the land, or a humble baker serving pies to bears, and bunnies, and other woodlands creatures, children can, with just their imagination, create new worlds from nothing.

Once we get older, life distracts us, and the power of imagination is something we seem to lose. What was once a towering castle, is just a tree in the backyard. The floor isn’t lava anymore. Modern entertainment stirs up the feeling again - movies, books, games - but always to a lesser degree. VR is beginning to change that.

As hardware becomes more powerful, VR headsets are bringing people back to their childhood imagination. But right now, there’s still a disconnect for the player because of software. When you go to grab something in VR, your hand magically snaps to a position to hold onto it, and that’s if the developer lets you. Most of the time, your hand will just pass through objects, taking away from the immersion and snapping you back to the reality that this is just a game.

We want to change that. Quantum Lion Labs is working to build worlds where you can interact with everything and everyone around you. We want to give people the tools to unlock their imagination, and let them craft their own personal adventures. This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see the stories that get written.
